What is Elmwood Valet Storage?

How do I get started with your service?

After you’ve completed our contact form, schedule a pick-up date & time or call our office at (504) 309-5757 to arrange by phone. 

We’ll take all of your items to our high-security facility for safe keeping. 

When you want one or all of your items back, simply send us an email or call, and we’ll schedule a delivery – PRONTO! It’s really that easy.

How does your pricing work?

Item-Based Storage Rental Charges:

  • $7.50/month: Individual bin or suitcase.
  • $10.00/month: For each single item that one valet can easily carry (golf clubs, bikes, lamps, microwave ovens, etc.).
  • $25.00/month: for each furniture item that needs more than a single valet to move (sofa, mattress, chest of drawers, lounge chair, etc.).
  • Pickup is free and delivery is the cost of 1 month's rent per item, based on item-based rental charges.
How do I schedule a pickup or delivery?

Simple! Just fill out the form on this page or call our team at 504-309-5757, and we’ll coordinate a time that works for you.

How will my scheduled pickup work?

The night before your scheduled pickup, we’ll send you an email confirming your pickup appointment time, your address, and the list of items you supplied for pickup. 

Next, 30 minutes before your appointment, one of our valets will call or text you alerting you to the exact time of arrival. 

Upon arrival, our valet will make an inventory list of all your items and ask you to review & sign it. Further, each item will have a barcode attached to it. 

Finally, a photo will be taken of each item for our records. 

All items will then be carefully loaded into our truck and safely transported to our high-security climate-controlled facility. 

Upon arrival at our facility, a written description of each item and its associated barcode will be uploaded into our online inventory system.

Will my stuff be safe?

Absolutely! We take security very seriously. 

All items are carefully arranged in our truck to ensure safe transport. 

If we deem it necessary, we’ll even wrap very fragile items with heavy-duty moving pads. Our facility is fully climate controlled. 

Further, we have over 100 digital cameras and digital backup recorders. The facility is also monitored 24/7/365. 

In regards to fire, the building has a full sprinkler and smoke detection system. 

Finally, access to Elmwood Valet’s storage area is limited to only employees of Elmwood Valet Storage. 

For more peace of mind, we protect you with up to $500 insurance coverage at no cost to you. 

Are there any additional costs?

We don’t believe in hidden charges and don’t want our valued customers to ever feel that they’ve been subject to a “Gotcha” experience. 

The following are uncommon but possible extra charges:

  • Additional Vertical Walk-Up Fee: $30/ floor above the first. If you live in an apartment or condo building with no elevator and you live on the second floor, this would apply.
  • Long Carry: $40. If the distance from our truck to your doorstep is greater than 200 feet (a really long distance), this fee will apply. This could apply, for example, if we have to traverse a long way through a parking garage.
  • Late Cancellation/Reschedule: $100. This would apply if you cancel or reschedule sooner than 24 hours prior to your pickup.
  • Partial Unit Deliveries: Possible. Partial delivery cost is based on item-based storage rental prices per item.
  • No-Show Fee (Pickup): $100. Not being there for your scheduled appointment isn’t fair or reasonable and causes us major problems.
  • No-Show Fee (Delivery): $100. Not being there makes things even more difficult for us as we’re planning on sending an empty truck to another job after your delivery, and now we can’t. This wastes our manpower and truck availability.
  • A minimum delivery fee of $50 applies to item-based storage rental customers.
Can I purchase storage and moving supplies from you?

Definitely. We carry a full array of standard box sizes, including specialty boxes for flat-screen TVs, china & glass boxes, and mirror/art boxes. 

Further, we carry a complete assortment of moving supplies to make your move a piece of cake.

How do you inventory my stuff?

When our valets arrive at your home, they will make a physical inventory of all of your items to be picked up. This inventory will include the number of total items, a description of each, and individual photos. 

Next, each item will have a barcode attached. 

Finally, the inventory list will be signed by you and by our valet. 

When your items arrive at our facility, your inventory list will be uploaded into our online control system. 

When you want all or any of your items delivered back, just select and click on “Deliver.” Super E-Z!

What are your Customer Support hours?

Our office hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. 

Please leave a voicemail if calling outside of stated business hours.

When will I be charged?

We’ll charge your card the first time on the day before we make your initial pickup. This is to verify that the credit or debit card is fully functioning. 

Any additional charges will be processed on the day of the move-in. 

Thereafter, all future charges will be processed on the monthly anniversary of the initial charge. For example, if your initial charge happened on January 5th, your next charge would take place on February 5th.

If I miss a payment (Yikes!), what happens?

Life happens, stuff happens – your credit card expired and you haven’t received your new one yet, you’re still on vacation and forgot to pay before you left, etc. 

We understand this, and being the nice folks we are, we give you a five-day grace period. 

However, after being five days late, we must charge a $10 fee. 

Hopefully, you won’t, but if you become more than 15 days late, we reluctantly must charge you another $10. 

Heaven forbid, but if you’re more than 30 days late, we will charge you a $10/month late fee until you pay your bill. We don’t even want to think about it, but if your account becomes delinquent by 60 days, we might have to auction off your stuff to cover the past-due balance, which would include added admin fees and auction processing/preparation fees as allowed by law. Bottom line – please try not to be late. It’s not fun for you or us.

How many Elmwood Valet Storage bins will I need?

Our bins are 3 cubic feet and measure 27”x17”x12”. 

To give you an idea, you can fit a crock of shoes (like 20 pairs), mucho T-Shirts (75 +/- if you’ve got that many), boatloads of books (hard copy, paperback, texts), all your favorite jeans (well, MOST people’s stash), or 75,000 +/- M&Ms (but who’s counting) in one bin. 

On average, our users store 7 bins worth of stuff. 

The smart thing to do is to order more than you think you need since we don’t charge extra to pick up empty bins when we pick up your full ones for delivery to our facility.

What can or can’t I store with Elmwood Valet?

You can store just about anything, including larger items such as furniture, but we don’t allow: 

  • explosives
  • combustibles
  • hazardous materials
  • perishable items
  • liquids
  • glass
  • fragile items
  • any illegal materials and substances

This is not like a TV crime show!

Any storage tips concerning the best way to pack an Elmwood Valet bin?

50 pounds is the maximum bin weight so it’s best to spread out heavy items across the bin so you don’t exceed the weight limit. We can only pick up so much reasonably. 

It’s better to roll up the shirts and other clothing items so they won’t get crumpled as they would if you folded them. 

Further, this method will allow you to pack more stuff into each bin which will save you some green. 

When packing, make sure to take pictures of everything and make notes. This will make it easier to remember what you stored when you need it back. So you can retrieve the one with your ski jacket and not the one that has your snorkel & fins in it.

How much time do I have to pack/unpack my Elmwood Valet bins?

Time is important to all of us. Our valets will wait up to 20 minutes after delivering your bins so you can pack them up and roll on to bigger things. 

However, if you know that you can’t make that timeframe, no worries, mate. Alternatively, we can drop off bins up to 2 weeks in advance of your scheduled pickup. So you can leisurely pack up and be 100% ready when our valet stops in for the final pickup. 

On re-delivery of any of your stuff, we will wait up to 20 minutes for you to unpack our supplied bins. However, if you decide that you’d rather keep our bins forever instead of unpacking them, they’re all yours at a cost of $25.00 each.

Will you pack things for me?

Unfortunately, our valets aren’t allowed to do this. Everything must be packed up by you. 

However, we will happily pick up and move everything thereafter so that you can kick back and relax. Life should always be this easy.

When can I schedule pickups and deliveries?

We’re available from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Monday - Friday. 

When scheduling a pickup or drop off of your stuff, look at our available times when you complete your online checkout. 

If none of them meet your needs, buzz us to discuss some possible alternative arrangements. We want to make your experience EZ breezy. 

You’ve got more important things to handle, like wrapping up party arrangements for the weekend.

Can I change or cancel an already-scheduled pickup or delivery?

Yes! Without penalty, you can cancel or change your pickup or delivery at least 24 hours in advance.

What happens if I don’t show up for my prescheduled delivery or pickup?

Our valets are authorized to wait for up to 20 minutes. 

During that time, they’ll try to get in touch with you on all contact methods you have given us. 

However, after 20 minutes, we’ll need to leave to accommodate other customers and this will trigger a “no-show” fee of $100.00. This is only fair as our time is as valuable as yours, and we don’t want to inconvenience any of our other customers who may be waiting for our services.
